Moon Pie Festival

Every summer Bell Buckle hosts the RC Cola – MoonPie Festival, and there’s hardly a store without some version of this favorite American junk food souvenir. I talked to several locals who like to tell stories of parades and parade floats with young people throwing moon pies into the crowd for fun. At this festival, you’ll also enjoy music, cloggers, games, and contests. So save your diet cheat day and add this festival to your Tennessee trips, it sounds like it’s a sight not to be missed!

FOUR More Things to Know Before You Go:

  1. Having spent time in a lot of towns, big and small, I feel I can honestly tell you that the stores in this small town have some great prices. Good enough to make me feel like I need to mention it.
  2. Be aware that the stores usually do not stay open late! I found that most of the stores were only open until 4:00 on weekdays, so either plan your trip for the middle of the day or use this link to call for hours before you make your way there!
  3. I’ve been told that Mama Phillips makes and sells some amazing fried pies at Bluebird Antiques and Ice Cream Parlor! Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to sample it myself, but what could be bad about a fried pie?
  4. Bell Buckle has a free parking lot directly across the street from the shops, and free street parking. So aside from the festival times, parking shouldn’t be an issue for your trip.
